TESTIMONIALS

Voices of Our Community

“Having a permanent rabbi here for the first time helps preserve our faith, because when you're in the middle of South Dakota, it's easy to assimilate and forget about Jewish customs. It's a nice way to re-establish Judaism here.”

Leonard Gutnik

“The Chabad Jewish Community Center will fill a very important need. It will also ensure that Sioux Falls is a more welcoming destination for people who are looking to relocate from other parts of the country. As a young Jewish professional, this is a dream come true!”

Austin Benson

“When I learned that a full-time rabbi had finally arrived in South Dakota, I cried tears of joy. Since then, my life has changed exponentially. Chabad has given me a welcoming house of G-d where I can pray, learn, and gather with other Jews. Mussie taught me how to bake challah, and she held my hand when I benchted licht. The rabbi taught me that I am no less a Jew than he is. For the first time in forty years, I finally feel at home, not like an outsider looking in.”

Beverly Christensen

“The Chabad Jewish Community Center will continue the culture of providing worship and religious opportunities for the Jewish members of our city and state. I’ve been so impressed with Rabbi Mendel and his community leadership and look forward to seeing this project come to fruition..”

Paul TenHaken, Sioux Falls Mayor

“Moving as newlyweds to Sioux Falls from a large Jewish Community in the Pacific Northwest has certainly presented challenges and adjustments, but connecting with Chabad has allowed us to maintain the connection to our faith tradition in a place where we did not expect to. We believe that our life and future together will continue to flourish with the Chabad Jewish Community Center and our new growing community that it is sure to attract.”

Nina & Aaron Bergman

“When I moved here from Nevada, there was no rabbi in the entire state. With the establishment of Chabad Jewish Center of South Dakota, that lack has been fixed. The entire Jewish community in South Dakota has been blessed with Rabbi Alperowitz and his family's presence. Although my wife and I don’t come from Orthodox Jewish backgrounds, we appreciate what Chabad is doing to establish a greater Jewish presence and to ensure Jewish continuity for the next generation.”
